Doing promos for radio station affiliates of your syndicated show

On this the Final Anarchy Gumbo episode, Michael W. Dean explains the value of, and then plays some, promos and liners for Freedom Feens radio station affiliates. This is something you do for free for stations, and you should do it well and promptly.

The Gumbo will still very occasionally have new episodes, but no longer weekly, as MWD is too busy working on his lifelong dream of RADIOOOOOOOOOO!

June 6th, 2013:

Hey, I am pod fading Anarchy Gumbo….I have gotten busier now that the Freedom Feens got on radio, and have a few other things that came up, so I really don’t have time to do a weekly Gumbo anymore.

I still may occasionally do an interview on the Gumbo, every few months or so, but I can’t do it weekly and have it be good, so I’d rather not try and half-ass it.

Thanks man!

So, program directors are surprised when you deliver something, and do it quickly and well? Is that lack of professionalism normal in the RADIOOOO world? If so, you guys are going to clean up!

In my observation, a lack of professionalism is normal in the WORLD world.

Everyone wants to “be something”, but few are able to treat it like a job when they don’t have a boss telling them what to do and when to do it.

But I think radio has a lot of drunks and slackers, more than many industries. Any industry where you don’t have to drive and no one dies if you screw up will attract and nurture a lot of drunks. lol.

I say this semi-jokingly about my job, but I suppose it could apply to any job:

If you can get your eyes and brain to both function at the same time, your boss with think you’re a genius!

All my bosses chuckle at that.

I’ll be sorry to see the reliable Anarchy Gumbo go… after all, this is where you had that rockin’ interview with Mojo Nixon that seemed to last only 15 minutes because of his awesome level of manic energy. The idea that there may be future episodes is heartening though.
