) but I have started this just for BOMB fan mail, as I am starting to get more now that the new record came out:

Some guy wrote: in "No Color in Utah:" what the hell are you squealing? Do you say "I'll tear me eyes uot for you" at some point or did i do too much acid. It's one of those songs you can almost hear and so end up making up your own twisted lyrics and I've always wondered how the artists feel about that. Hmmm?

Michael Dean wrote

I wrote it on an LSD bus trip out here when I moved from Virginia. Jay's wife at the time, Maxine, sang it on record, not me. jay went down on her in the studio at the time. At points you can hear Jay's teeth grinding from all the speed.

the lyrics are:
when I went through ohio
there were cows there
when there's cows there,
I drink milk.
but when I went through utah
my eyes were parched
and when my eyes are parched,
I don't drink. :

Hi Michael, I don't have your number. Also, on another note, I remember you sending out a message about someone returning your copy of "Hate Fed Love" CD? The reason I asked is because if you never got it back, I have two copies of that CD and I could send you one. I picked a second copy up for $1 on ebay. If that makes you feel cheap I'll also let you know that I payed $30 for "Hits of Acid" LP :) All the best - Chris.

Yes, I used to go out with Bubbles many year's ago in the city. I just got a call from her a week ago, but I haven't had any luck with the phone number. I know she had another baby just a few months back but I don't know any details. We played Bomb's Nineteen on the 4th of july at our 10 band farm party complete with mud wrestling and bonfire. We soaked 2 angel food cakes in kerosene and lit them on fire just as we started singing the first verse. Me thinks the audience enjoyed,I certainly did. Much thanks for your special blessing from the members of Anasazi. Later daze-bob.
Mail from Norway. I heard "Hate Fed Love" first time 6-7 years ago. Its still one of those albums I keep getting back to. I bought the album by a pure coincident from an import stand at the local record shop. I had never heard of the band before, and never since. Until I checked on the net today. Long story short: I still love that record. Much to my surprise I saw that a new record is out. I really want to hear it, but I am afraid to ruin the almost mythical position"Hate.." & Bomb has in my record collection. But I have to find out... So, I do not have a clue how big Bomb was, so my question is simple. Is the new record only distributed locally, or is it a chance that I can find it in a store in Europe? Best regards, Rune

hey michael, thanks for replying to my mail. i have a bunch of bomb bootlegs on vid "sorry" if you dont like that but if i find any bomb stuff i pick it up. my friend is over and he is the one who got me hooked on the amazing music you have put out. by the way getting lucy in the sky is a real bitch!! anyways my friend wants to tell you how your music has filled a part of his feelings/life that no other band has ever filled. so these are his thoughts. my name is greg winter and i have to tell you a story. this is back in the day, the year is not clear. a few friends and i took some good hits and i am not going to lie!! it was good!! i had seen your record in the record store a few times and was tempted to buy it. on the day i bought the cid i decided to buy hits of acid and the dukes of stratosphere. because acid rock was my deal. "besides punk rock" we listend to your tape over and over again, while peeking and after that day i learned that bomb was one of the bands i would always follow, always waiting for the new release, always waiting for the deep feelings that go in a vein that i had never heard before. so there is his bomb story i have personally ordered "love sucker" i expect only the best, and i really hope yougo on tour and come to minneapolis minnesota, which would probably be like 1st ave or something. anyways, st keep putting out music. later randy

Fucker wouldn't quit playing "Hits of Acid" when we went on our big rawk stah tour. I hated it until I was in Syracuse and for some reason at 2 in the afternoon, on a beautiful Autumn day, while the birds were chirping, it just clicked.... and then I laughed and cried and smiled and touched my tongue to my nipple as I slid an ice tray down the front of my Sub-Pop shorts. Anywayz... I met you once coz my old band Treadmill played with you and Eric McFadden's old band "Angry Babies." I got popped in the face with a beer bottle and ended up with a pretty birthday cake all over my body..... it was a bitchin' show. Pure un-hostile aggression and a passion that only the expression of deep-seated fear can take on. That was the tour after Tony Fag left. That fucker... I watched the video... he hit you with the drum. Ahhhhhh.... nostalgia and hero worship... the stuff all good boy's dreams are made of.
Thanks for mailing that Bomb CD, it got here to Japan last week. It's responsible for for me having the personal jesus song providing music repeatedly in my head when I'm not actually listening to anything! I got more than my money's worth! - Stefan

I can't believe it!!!! I was in a small record store here in RI and found out that my FAVORITE band was comming out with a new CD. The only way I could get it was to order it...which I did. Three days later I received it and I was BLOWN AWAY. I don't know what I was expecting, but it sounded like you guys never stopped...It was great! I finally was able to put Hits of Acid and Happy All the Time back into their Album covers...That's right, I said ALBUM covers. Anyway, this is just to let you know that I'm thrilled that there's more of you to listen to. Your music has been with me a LOT the past 10 years and I thank you.. teri teri98@hotmail.com

Dean - o: My new Bomb cd came in - I am very pleased =] I got this new fangled hi-fi internet connection(ADSL) and downloaded the quicktime of your trip with Bomb to Europe. Far out - it was sorta like Spinal Tap, but with good music. I love the new cd, but I want more, dammit. Is Tony Fag really an asshole? Man, can he play the drums. The new stuff still sounds different from anything else I listen to - that Bomb vibe will be sorely missed =-( Give me hope! Keep posting mp3s of new stuff you're doing!
Bomb Lovesucker CD (Wingnut)

I was holding out hope for this one--anyone who'd put Peter Sotos pinups Ian Brady and Myra Hindley on their cover has something up their sleeve, surely.

In the case of the first three songs on Bomb's archive-scraper, unfortunately, it's not much--basically, way too much Queensr˙che intruding on the occasional decent Pink Floyd-esque groove, pointing up the problems with this band in the recorded sense. (Word is they kill--er, killed--live, but they're no longer together.)

Not that these guys aren't very talented; guitarists Douglas Arthur Hilsinger and Jay Morgan Crawford (What is this? A yacht club?) show admirable restraint and plenty of invention, and the rhythm section is consistently solid. Michael Dean's vocals are consistently a highlight, though.

And then "Nineteen" kicks in, and all the sudden we're in Scratch Acid land (by way of Rose of Avalanche, perhaps--Tony Fag ain't afraid to pound his drums into submission). Much more interesting, to be sure, and the rest of this disc keeps it that way, with a superior version of Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" a real highlight. The real gem on here, though, is "No Color in Utah," which features haunting female vocals over a sultry bass throb.

Largely an archive-scraper for fans, Lovesucker is sure to appeal to people who believe Bomb is God--they won't be disappointed. If you don't know this band, you'd do better to check out earlier efforts. It's just that this Lovesucker seems stuck between pushing the experimental envelope a little (which these guys are certainly capable of) and the mire of their obvious influences (whether they'd cop to it or not). --Sam Gaines
